Gig – The Death of Comedy Pre-Christmas Laughstravaganza
After a bit of a cheeky break where we all found ourselves (turns out we were exactly where we thought we were), The Death of Comedy is back with a pretty awesome line-up of some weird and wonderful stuff.
After the huge success of our September show, in which we combined some of the best things we saw in Edinburgh with some of our favourite local talent, we’ll be doing something similar this time. We promise it’s going to be even more fun, and maybe just a little bit crazy.
Headlining the night will be Edinburgh Best Newcomer Award Nominee and the guys whose show had Rob smiling like a goon all day during afterwards at the Fringe, Ben Target. Ben’s show was one of the most unusual but hilarious things that we’ve seen in a long, long time and his style is bizarre but brilliant. Please adjust your mental filters for something a little bit different and rather beautiful.
Also joining us from London will be the double-headed joy machine that is Robin and Partridge. These guys stole our hearts with some incredibly memorable performances at the Death of Comedy in Edinburgh, including getting the whole audience on stage for an interpretive dance. The guys are resident artists at the Tate Modern so come with some pretty decent credentials. We promise you’ll fall in love with them too.Local talent will include Tara Flynn, a legend of the Irish comedy scene, who can currently be seen in RTE’s surprisingly good ‘Irish Pictorial Weekly’, and Lauren Kerr, one of the incredibly exciting young comics who is making the Belfast scene bubble at the moment.
As usual, Rob will attempt to sing something funny, and Conor will master your ceremonies.
€5 for members, €8 for non-members and, shockingly, it’s on in the Workman’s with doors at 8pm.
Hope we’ll see you all back for one more round of death before the end of the year (WORLD???!!!!)
