Review – Cymbology: Foil Arms & Hog @ The ABSOLUT fringe

I hadn’t seen Foil Arms & Hog for a long time and was curious to see their new sketches so it was with a happy anticipation that I entered the International last night. The room was packed, which told me that I was in for a good show! There was a sense of real excitement around the room which is always a good thing at the start of a comedy gig eh?

Driving lessons!

After a somewhat false start (orchestrated of course!), the boys began their show with that good old Catholic tradition of Mass, because you know that’s how every gig should start… Once we were all blessed and had given each other the sign of peace the gig could begin.

I went looking for new stuff and boy did they deliver. From loan sharks and talent shows to the slightly more risky topics such as equal opportunities in the workplace, nothing is out of bounds for the trio. Their range of topics is quite astonishing.  They effortlessly flowed from one sketch to the next and looked to be having great craic on stage themselves.  It was clear to see that the lads get on really well and they have a fantastic bond which shines through on stage. They love what they do even laughing both during and after their own sketches!

10 Days in Dublin – comedy comedy comedy!

Time for the 5th installment of our 10 Days in Dublin comedy break down! You ready for more great acts to choose from? Great, here goes…

Sketch group extraordinaire Foil, Arms and Hog will be taking to the stage on Wed 11th @7.30pm in The Workmans. Excited? We are! These high energy performers are well-know for presenting audiences with “a fast paced mix between theatre and stand-up comedy. Wickedly twisted characters, unpredictable scenes and high energy performances. The lads have appeared on TV as stars of The Savage Eye and at live festivals including Kilkenny Cats laughs, Electric Picnic and Vodafone Comedy Festival.” Gosh, these boys have fantastic credentials to share on the 10days site! Surely that’s enough to convince you to pop along for a night of manic laughter, it’s only €5 too! Not convinced? Hmm, what to do…? I know, how about free tickets?!?! The lads have given us a trio of freebies to give to our lovely comedyscoop readers, so if you want to bring a friend out for a cheap midweek giggle drop us a mail now; competitions@thecomedyscoop.com  :)

Do you have an ‘Appetite for Distraction’? It seems George Fox does and he’ll be sharing it with you on Sunday 8th @ 6.30pm in The International Bar! According to 10days “Appetite for Distraction is a look at our lives in modern times and how they’re more interesting and exciting than we could have EVER have imagined in our youth…and yet still capable of being just as petty and childish. With school yard bullying traded for social networking, this show stands on the shores of our society, beating its comedic stick against a sea of mediocrity.” Wow, sounds like there are some interesting ideas in George’s show but fear not he is the Father Ted Fest Comedian of the Year Winner 2012 so it’s all bound to be wrapped in a hilarious package for your enjoyment :) And at just €5 it’s a great value evenings entertainment too!
