Gig- Brand Spanking New Returns!
There will be plenty of Galwayites rejoicing when they discover that the Róisín Dubh will once again play host to Brand Spanking New. The show which boasts “Brand Spanking New talent & new material from Ireland’s best comedians” is hosted by Danny Dowling (TV3′s Come Dine With Me) and the line up for Wednesday 21st is a cracker! Headlining the show is Cork native Chris Kent, currently being described as the Future of Irish Comedy. Chris has returned to the Roisin Dubh with a very full year of gigs in 2012. From Kilkenny to America to the UK and Edinburgh, Chris has raked up an impressive line up of gigs festivals and TV appearances. Now we know you’ve already checked out the line up yourselves but in case you’re suffering from indecision we’ve decided to help you out with our pick of the bunch!

In an ideal world we’d obviously love to see ALL the comedians perform but since we can’t be everywhere at once (and can’t afford all those tickets!) this would be our wish list…
Wednesday 24th Tommy Tiernan @ Taibhdhearc 8pm – start as you mean to go on with a performance from comedies prodigal son!
Thursday 25th Tony Law- Maximum Noise, Benny Boot, Danny Dowling, Colin Murphy @ Kelly’s 8pm – with a collection of comedians like that it’s bound to be an off-the-wall fun time!
Thursday 25th The Ruberbandits @ The Róisín Dubh 11.59pm – sod the fact that there’s work in the morning
Event – Belly Laughs Belfast

Hands up anyone who loves a good festival….. all hands up I see and I can’t say I’m surprised! The festival atmosphere simply has to be experienced first hand and this Sunday sees the launch of a brand-new dedicated comedy festival; ‘Belly Laughs’. This first time, 8 day festival will be taking place in a variety of venues all over Belfast. So what’s it all about? Well…
Not restricted to stand-up comedy, the festival strives to challenge, inspire and inform. Belly Laughs brings you poetry, magic, cabaret, workshops, seminars, club nights, book readings and events for children … in fact, anything with a humorous angle!
Naturally we had to share it with you!
Electric Picnic – The Comedy Tent

This weekend sees one of the greatest festivals to hit Ireland. Electric Picnic. Did you think we forgot about it? How could we? It has a comedy tent!!
Quite an impressive one at that we might add! Boasting names such as Patrick Kielty who is performing his only Irish tour date at the Picnic.
The Comedy tent aims to cater for all tastes and includes comedians from each genre such as The Steve Frost Improv All Stars for all you imrov lovers out there to David O’Doherty and Dead Cat Bounce for all you musical comedy lovers. Eric Lalor, Danny Dowling and Fred Cooke are fighting fit in the stand up corner.
The Picnic also aims to give new and up and coming comedians a chance to shine so this year new comers like Tomie James and Shazwanda are taking to the stage!
The Comedy tent is open for business on Saturday and Sunday from 1.30pm and will be held together by your charming MC’s Andrew Stanley and Damian Clarke.
So if you are travelling to Electric Picnic this weekend and need some TLC on the afternoon after the night before why not pop in to the comedy tent and laugh that headache away eh?

Event – Brand SPANKING New @ The Roisin Dubh Galway

Brand Spanking New comes to the Roisin Dubh tonight. It sees Brand spanking new comedians doing their very best seven minutes or some of the best comedians that Ireland has to offer do seven minutes of brand spanking new material. So you get the idea by now yeah? Brand SPANKING new material all round!
According to the Roisin they have taken their time picking the line up for the night and have something for everyone:
From one line merchants, surreal gag merchants and storytelling stand ups all under the watchful eye of Kiwi born Galway head Danny Dowling and finished off with 20 minutes of comedy gold from our headliner, COLUM McDONNELL
