Review – Comedy @ Anseo
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Anseo so I decided as Joe Rooney was headlining, last night was as good as any night to head along to check it out. Imagine my dismay when a couple of hours before the gig I got a message that Joe was not able to make it but that there was to be another headline act in his place, ooh the excitement. Being the determined woman that I am I decided to head along anyway and see what the night would bring!
MC for the evening was Ian Perth. Ian is a very energetic comedian. As an MC he works the room really well and makes sure that the audience are at ease while chatting to them and adding in jokes here and there. Even when he made mistakes such as places people were from, he made it part of his set and created jokes around it, ever the professional.
First up on stage was Tom ‘Bear’ O’Mahony. From his opening jokes Tom had the audience laughing. His tales of Scottish taxi drivers taking his jokes seriously to his descriptions of his school days had the audience giggling along as they relived their childhood. Tom has a very laid back approach on stage which adds to his charm. He does have a problem with people who says “Are ye well?” Though….hmmm I may need to avoid him for a while so!
Free Gig – Edinburgh preview show – Take one
Edinburgh preview show take one is a mixture of three comedians trying out their material for the Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
Tom “the Bear” O’Mahony takes the audience on a unique comedic journey that truly brings the house down every time he performs. He has gigged alongside Jo Caulfield, PJ Gallagher and Dave McSavage. He is certainly not one to miss!
Derek Ryan is fast becoming a regular face on the Irish comedy scene. He has performed at all the major comedy clubs including the International and the Laughter Lounge. His fantastic stage presence is something you must see first hand.
Lisa Joyce has performed stand up all across Ireland and the UK. Her solo show “Back to School”, featured in the Irish Daily Star, was praised significantly by critics and audiences alike. She may be small but she is has a big personality on stage!
Don’t miss this opportunity to see these great stand up comedians showcasing their talents before heading off to Edinburgh!

Gig – Carol Tobin @ Anseo
Tonight at Anseo, one of the country’s favourite and funniest comedians headlines all in the name of charity. Carol Tobin takes to the stage along with a host of other comedians in what has been dubbed the “Happiest comedy club in Dublin”
On the night is Aidan Killian, regular MC of Anseo, an intelligent comedian whose observations on life are hilarious. Providing support on the night is Trevor Browne who is a magic man with a guitar. You just have to see this man to believe us! Support also comes from Ruthie Phoenix who despite only doing comedy a few months is carving herself a great career with her quirky stage presence! And then of course there is Carol, she has not only appeared in many of the comedy clubs in Dublin but has also appeared on TV shows like The Panel (see below for a clip!)
There may be a few surprises on the night……but you need to show up to see…..
In preparation for that however, take a look at Carol in action on The Panel below!
Get yourself along to Anseo tonight for more of the same!
