10 Days in Dublin – even MORE comedy!
We’re baaaccckkk! And we come baring even more comedy from the 10days at Dublin festival line up!
Eleanor Tiernan is bringing her new show ‘Rogue’ to The Twisted Pepper stage on Sunday 8th and Monday 9th July at 8.30pm. Eleanor is a familiar face on the Dublin comedy circuit and no stranger to the festival scene (she has performed at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, Hobart Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Iveagh Gardens comedy festival and the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs!) 10days in Dublin warn you to “Expect gags, diagrams and blistering logic from this humorous hybrid of Sinead O’Connor & Carol Vorderman. Don’t expect there to be a point… it’s comedy, that’s the point. Vive la résistance!” Sounds like an interesting show doesn’t it? Tickets are just €8 but you’re in luck because we happen to have a free pair to give away to you lovely folks! Just drop us a mail; competitions@thecomedyscoop.com
Enjoy a spot of sketch comedy? Then check out No Pants Thursdays’ show ‘T’ll Death do us Party’ on in The Workman’s at 7.30pm on Sunday 8th July. In the words of 10days “NPT is a late night Irish sketch group. Join them for a high-spirited tale based on air travel that contains little death, and even less partying. NPT don’t shy away from asking difficult questions. Can Jonathan Rhys Myers pass an airport without causing a fight? Were 80s sitcoms promoting domestic abuse? Is ‘twisting the milk’ a phrase? The all style, no substance nonsense of NPT should have reaching for your oxygen mask. Swish” Sounds like fun doesn’t it? Get yourself a ticket to this party cos you really can’t afford to miss for just €5!
There’s more sketch comedy for you to enjoy on Tues10th & Wed11th @8pm in The New Theatre thanks to Diet of Worms and their show ‘Strollinstown Radio Hour’. “Based on their 2010 play ‘Strollinstown’ (nominated for the Fishamble New Writing Award), the Radio Hour is a mix of sketches and stories from West Dublin’s strangest suburb, in the grand tradition of classic radio comedy, complete with live sound effects. Diet of Worms have been regulars on the Irish and UK comedy circuits since 2006, taking shows to the Edinburgh and ABSOLUT Dublin Fringe Festivals, including last year’s sell out hit ‘CULT’. They’ve also produced the hugely popular web series’ The Taste of Home and Dublin Stories.” 10days really have found some quality acts to entertain you this year haven’t they! And for just €8 you can go and experience this unique comedy group’s show for yourself
If stand-up is more your thing then perhaps Danny O’Brien’s show ‘All My Friends’ is what you’re looking for? Taking place on Thursday 12th @9pm in The Stag’s Head this is Danny’s first solo show and this is the perfect time to see it before he starts his run in Edinburgh next month. 10 days tell us “With a keen Interest in the mating habits of Australians, a crippling fear of pigeons and a love/hate relationship with his ‘native’ rural home- Wicklow… Danny’s wild observations are caressed with mild skepticism of his surroundings! He is a regular at all top comedy clubs in both Ireland and The UK and is the Resident MC of ‘The Comedy Crunch’ in The Stags Head”. Definitely one not to be missed, especially not with a meager entrance fee of €5! If you’re quick we’ll even magic that away with the aid of a free pair of tickets and all you have to do is mail us; competitions@thecomedyscoop.com
