As this will be my last blog I decided to gather together some of my favourite comedy videos into one post. In no particular order here they are.
First up, some improv from the Princes of Lagos……their command of accents is awesome!
Next, Foil Arms and Hog. It’s an old one but I love these guys!
Anyone that can rap about tea is a good un in my book….step in Doc Brown!
What do you get when you put two comedic people with some acrobatic ability together? A highly entertaining show is what! Walking into Smock Alley’s Boy’s School room I noticed the set up with the ropes and swings and I must admit I got a little excited. I haven’t seen any acrobatic stuff since I was a little kid…..
Then in walked Ken and Tina. They began by telling us their story while doing some awesome acrobatic stunts. It was very clear to see that these two have a great chemistry between each other and trust each completely or I imagine the act wouldn’t work and that fed into the audience as I one for believed everything they said.
Each of them got the chance to show off their individual talent also, though I must admit my heart nearly stopped a few times during Ken’s section. Afterall he was trying to romance an audience member so needed to get it exactly right….There was even room for a little improvisation involving the various cushions on stage being thrown at the audience.
But it wasnt all just about the big stunts for Tumble Circus. They also have some intricate routines which kept the audience enthralled and clapping the whole way through despite some mishaps with the juggling section. They keep the best till last and all I will say is that it is bum on the edge of your seat with your hands over your mouth from laughing so much stuff!
This is what Tumble Circus do for a living. They are charming, funny and extremely good at what they do.
If you want to experience something a little different the guys are in Smock Alley tonight and tomorrow night at 6.30pm and tickets can be bought here
I hadn’t seen Foil Arms & Hog for a long time and was curious to see their new sketches so it was with a happy anticipation that I entered the International last night. The room was packed, which told me that I was in for a good show! There was a sense of real excitement around the room which is always a good thing at the start of a comedy gig eh?
After a somewhat false start (orchestrated of course!), the boys began their show with that good old Catholic tradition of Mass, because you know that’s how every gig should start… Once we were all blessed and had given each other the sign of peace the gig could begin.
I went looking for new stuff and boy did they deliver. From loan sharks and talent shows to the slightly more risky topics such as equal opportunities in the workplace, nothing is out of bounds for the trio. Their range of topics is quite astonishing. They effortlessly flowed from one sketch to the next and looked to be having great craic on stage themselves. It was clear to see that the lads get on really well and they have a fantastic bond which shines through on stage. They love what they do even laughing both during and after their own sketches!
Last Sunday Marcus O’Laoire opened for Australian comedian Jim Jefferies at Vicar Street. This was indeed a great honour for Marucs!
Well we managed to get a short video of Marcus doing his stuff live on stage at Vicar Street. So we decided to share it with all you lovely people!
